Physicians bring their expertise to new facility.
Palm Beach Spine and Pain Institute
Program Moves into
State-of-Art Facility
Palm Beach Spine and Pain Institute has moved into a new state-of-the art medical facility. Dr. Lawrence Gorfine and Dr. Douglas MacLear, both Board Certified Anesthesiologists in Pain Medicine, have enjoyed remarkable success with advanced modern interventional pain treatments and have expanded their medical facility.
Their new offices are located atop the Concepts 2 Tower at 10th Avenue North and I-95. The new facility is designed to allow the doctors and their staff to efficiently and quickly initiate medical treatment for injured patients suffering from acute and chronic pain problems.
“We hope to see the patients earlier, immediately following their injury, so that we can initiate treatment and return them to work and to a normal life-style sooner”, says Dr. MacLear. “It is best to limit inflammatory processes quickly to prevent them from becoming chronic.”
Comprehensive patient work-ups include history assessment, review of past injuries and accidents, physical examinations and evaluation of diagnostic tests with recommendations for further testing if necessary.
“Our facility can offer 24-hour reports and our staff is knowledgeable of all the Workers’ Compensation requirements”, says Dr. Gorfine. “We specialize only in Pain Medicine, and because of our state-of-the-art equipment and trained staff, we can offer a faster and more efficient service and quality of medical care. Our treatment plans and IME’s are available the next day after our initial consultation and are faxed to the Case Manager or Adjuster.”
Palm Beach Spine & Pain Institute offices include a modern Pre-op and Post-op area and dedicated Fluoroscopy Procedure Rooms. The procedure rooms contain all the most modern equipment of Pain Medicine, including IDET Generators, Nucleoplasty Generators, Radiofrequency Generators and the Fluoroscopy has digital-subtraction capability. Digital Subtraction assures injections are safer and more accurate, decreasing the possibility of serious complications.
Dr. Gorfine trained at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston. He was an Associate Professor and Director of the Pain Management Department and the Director of the Pain Management Fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia. He has been practicing Pain Medicine in Florida for more than 20 years. He is Past-President of both the Florida Society of Anesthesiologists and the Florida Academy of Pain Medicine.
Dr. Gorfine worked with Dr. Menno Sluijter and Dr. Maarten Van Kleef in the Netherlands on advanced techniques with Radiofrequency.
Dr. MacLear trained at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and was in the Fellowship program in Pain Management. He has extensive experience in advanced interventional techniques and has vast diagnostic experience. Prior to his training in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, Dr. MacLear was a practicing Emergency Room physician for five years.
Dr. MacLear has been practicing Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine in Florida for more than 9 years. He is a member of the Florida Medical Association, the Florida Academy of Pain Medicine and the Florida Society of Anesthesiologists.
Since Pain Medicine is a rapidly evolving medical specialty, this new facility offers the opportunity of expansion of new techniques and procedures as they become available. Patients can be evaluated and treated sooner and more efficiently in this larger specialty – specific facility.
