Getting the Word Out

Olesen Logistics' Profile
In Work Comp Arena is
Growing with Services

Lief Olesen has built his company, Olesen Logistical Management Group, Inc., quietly and effectively in the last decade. Founded in 2000 as a national provider of ancillary services, primarily in workers' compensation, Olesen has built a reputation for efficiency and reliability.

From a "command post" in Clearwater, Florida the Olesen team manages transportation, translation, durable medical equipment, home and vehicle modifications, home health and rehabilitation therapy services in communities across the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada and South America.

The company is also global with providers in Europe. Regardless of whether it is across the country or down the street, Olesen said that every case is closely monitored from assignment until it has been successfully completed. However, with a focus on service, branding the company name was a relatively low priority, until now.

"I feel it is time to get our name out front more consistently and in the minds of insurers. We work directly with a number of carriers already," Olesen added during a recent interview with the Voice Newspaper. And he is confident that he has a company track record and a one stop feature that will get attention. "Our ancillary network consists of over 5,500 vendors which allow us to manage virtually any type of case," said Olesen. All vendors go through a credentialing process designed by the company, he added.

One of the tenets of the Olesen philosophy is that the human touch must be part of the process. That is possible because technology provides the means to efficiently manage the cases. The company has its own proprietary computer program that is constantly being upgraded by in-house IT Director, James Stover who develops operating software with input from the staff.

"Among other things, we are working toward a paper-free system, in keeping with the developments in the industry," Olesen pointed out during a tour of the offices. This includes the ability to scan in photos, permits and other documentation for the adjuster or case manager to review on a real time basis. "We are the king of rush service and we do not charge a rush fee," he added.

While the tremendous amount of cases could not be managed without the latest computer programs in place, Olesen reminds his team that they are in the people business and that there are individuals on the other side of the telephone and e-mail communications.

"We touch every file, every day," he said. There are color codes and other tools that make sure a case does not languish. "We do have the technology that watches over our shoulder," Olesen added with a laugh. But the bottom line, he believes, is that people like to talk with a person that they know. The company also has an "Ask Olesen" feature on their web site and you don't have to place an order to ask a question.

Olesen has expanded into home modifications and home health care and has added certifications in those industries to those already in place. "We carry liability insurance which exceeds industry standards," he added.
The company provides a 24-hour on call service, custom reports and works to make the case as seamless as possible from beginning to end, Olesen stated. "We are planning for the future by making sure we take care of the industry demands today," he concluded.
