Raul T. Aparicio, M.D. moves quickly about his office in Plantation, interacting with staff, dictating medical reports and reviewing files. After being part of a large practice with a number of orthopaedic surgeons he is on his own, and he says he is enjoying the opportunity.
"I am providing the same services as we had in the larger practice and we are comprehensive in our treatment of patients. And I think I am more efficient than ever," Dr. Aparicio told the Voice. "I am doing things at 2008 speed, which is absolutely necessary. Patients want to be seen right away, adjusters and case managers want to view reports immediately and the workers compensation system requires efficiency."
Dr. Aparicio brings the surgical credentials to the operating table as he is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and has twenty years of experience in orthopaedic and reconstructive surgery, as well as joint replacement surgery.
The first thing Dr. Aparicio did was to put in place an electronic reporting system because "it is much more efficient and gives the adjusters what they need. We have eliminated the paperwork shuffle that often delayed treatment of the patient and frustrated everyone involved," he emphasized.
"My mission is still to provide the highest quality of orthopaedic care to my patients and I am able to do it by complying with the requirements and procedures of the workers comp and general insurance industries," Dr. Aparicio added.
This means staying current, keeping up with the latest orthopaedic procedures and technology and establishing relationships with adjusters and case managers.
"In the final analysis it is about getting the patient the treatment they require to return to an active and productive life."
