Attend a conference in the workers compensation or physical rehabilitation industry and you will likely see orchids somewhere in the exhibit hall. It is a natural for Orchid Medical, founded in 2002 as a Durable Medical Equipment provider and has grown into a national company with a range of services.
Founders and owners, Brian Carwile and Paul Taylor have a combined 30 years experience in workers' compensation and combined their talents to expand the company into physical therapy, diagnostic imaging, DME, prosthetics and orthotics, as well as transportation, translation, I.V. therapy, and home health care.
"Our philosophy is to emphasize customer service, cost containment and a quality product," said Taylor. "That is reinforced by what we hear from adjusters and case managers. Good service at a fair price go hand-in-hand."
Orchid Medical, like virtually all successful providers, has embraced technology as a way to meet customer needs. "We have recently developed a new system, called OMNI (Orchid Medical Network Integration), a web-based system that allows our care coordinators to interact with clients," Taylor said. The system gives the client the ability to access OMNI from any computer and they access new files, view ongoing or archived reports and print documents.
"OMNI can be integrated into our clients' systems for seamless access and customized to meet their needs," Taylor added. The rapid referral system, e-mail, fax or telephone are all available for orders.
Orchid Medical expects growth to continue, particularly in the areas of advanced prosthetics and IV therapy. "We believe that, along with a demand for more services, there will be a growing emphasis on quality services and that is something that we will continue to emphasize with our Care Coordinators," Taylor concluded.
